The owner of this gallery is a collector of Vietnam contemporary art, Ms. Raquelle Azran. She, a U.S woman, has devoted herself to introducing Vietnam artworks to international public for last twenty years. Requelle began her career as a collector of Vietnam paintings in 1991 when she visited Vietnam for the first time and immediately fell in love with Vietnam contemporary art. During the last twenty years, she has returned to Vietnam several times to research and collect great artworks. Now she is possessing hundreds of Vietnam paintings of popular Vietnamese artists such as Nguyen Tu Nghiem, Phung Pham, Phan Cam Thuong, Vu Dinh Huan, Dinh Hanh, Vu Thu Hien, Dinh Thi Tam Poong, Vu Duc Trung ….
Sharing her thought, Raquelle said that as in possession of hundreds of paitings of Vietnamese artists, she began to think of introducing the beauty of Vietnam Art worldwide. With that in mind, in 2002, she initially displayed Vietnam paintings in London, becoming the first one to bring Vietnamese culture to the public in one of largest cradles of art and culture in the world.
During the past years, Ms. Raquelle Azran has brought her treasure of Vietnam paintings to many places across the world such as museums and exhibitions in Brussels (Belgium), Humburg (Germany), Israel, United States, Singapore, and so on. She added that wherever she went, people were amazed by the outstanding quality of paintings. Those paintings are appreciated as the true unique art.
According to art experts and critics, what makes Vietnam artworks different is that artists have used oriental materials like lacquer, watercolor, and other local materials which are found nowhere else to create their masterpieces. However, those paintings are added some Western calligraphy to interest international visitors. Therefore, all of them are wonderful combination between Eastern and Western culture. Ms. Fiona Ashley Norman, a visitor in the fair said that she had paid her visits to Raquelle Azran’s galley for the past 10 years and had bought two paintings this time. She excitedly shared that she was happy seeing Vietnam art become more and more popular. In addition, Vietnam artworks were truly in tune with their surroundings. When she watched paintings, she could fell the love that artists had put in their works.
