Nguyen Van Troi Bridge will be the first pedestrian bridge in Da Nang

In the next August, Nguyen Van Troi Bridge spanning Han River will be renovated to be the first pedestrian bridge in Da Nang. The total fund of this project is about US $1 million. The bridge is expected to contribute to Da Nang tourism development.

Nguyen Van Troi Bridge was constructed in 1965, connecting the east and west of Da Nang. It is also the first pedestrian bridge in Da Nang spanning Han River. The bridge was designed and built with a Poni steel truss arches architecture, and serving the purpose of war by RMK (America). The bridge consists of 14 steel truss Poni spans of over 500m and the width of 10.5m with no margin for pedestrian. It was renovated in 1978 and 1996. After the Liberation Day, the bridge was named after the name of a hero - Nguyen Van Troi. This is one of the oldest bridges in Da Nang. After being renovated with the fund of 20.3 billion dong, Nguyen Van Troi, the over a half-century-old bridge will become the first walking bridge in the beach city.

Le Van Trung, Deputy Director of Transportation as well as Head of construction investment project management of Transport and Public Works said the city had agreed to advocate Nguyen Van Troi Bridge rehabilitation with a total cost not to exceed 20.3 billion. Accordingly, the bridge will be renovated in the next August. The construction period is expected to last 3 months with main tasks as repainting the arch bridge system, improving static navigable spans from 4.5m to 7m, and completing intersections through either end. He also added this is is the first pedestrian bridge in Da Nang, which contributes greatly to the development of Da Nang tourism.

Phan Dinh Phuong inventor has submitted many ideas, in order to beautify the Nguyen Van Troi Bridge, after the bridge being selected as the first pedestrian bridge keeping the history and developing tourism by People's Committee of Da Nang City. According to the original plan, when Tran Thi Ly Bridge was built and inaugurated, Nguyen Van Troi Bridge would be dismantled. Earlier February 2012, Da Nang City Party Secretary, Nguyen Ba Thanh directed the Department of Transportation to study and retain Nguyen Van Troi Bridge for pedestrian to make stopover for travelers to see the city by the Han River.

Recently, inventors Phan Dinh Phuong (General Director of An Sinh Xanh), who has many inventions recognized and patented by the world, have presented many design ideas for this bridge. He proposed to built service shop and coffee shops at 13 remaining cylinders. On the bridge, there will be a night market selling a variety of goods. It will be a convenient shopping area of tourists. According to Mr. Phuong, below the bridge will be installed water spray systems, simultaneously spraying water on Nguyen Van Troi Bridge adjacent to Tran Thi Ly Bridge will be lazered to create lighting effects. With both sides of the bridge, to the west, when Song Thu Company dismantles, there are parks built and open Bach Dang road to connect Bach Dang and Tran Thi Ly Bridge. There will be a yacht part on the river.

According to the original plan, when Tran Thi Ly Bridge was built and inaugurated, Nguyen Van Troi Bridge would be dismantled. Earlier February 2012, Da Nang City Party Secretary, Nguyen Ba Thanh directed the Department of Transportation to study and retain Nguyen Van Troi Bridge for pedestrian to make stopover for travelers to see the city by the Han River. In late 2012, the Council of Da Nang Architecture - Planning also agreed on the plan to build a walking scalloped bridge over the Han River associated with the coastal city at the location of Dong Da Street roundabout - at the West Coast as Tran Hung Dao Street, linking the East with the investment fund of $ 35 million. The width of the bridge is expected from 4 to 6 meters and a length of about 490m. At a meeting with Mr. Phuong, Vice Chairman of Da Nang People's Committee Nguyen Ngoc Tuan agreed with the idea of developing the service at the cylinders in the form of socialization, but required to create beautiful architectural designs, adorning for no loss inherent architectures. As being a walking bridge in Da Nang, Mr. Phuong designs small landscapes, planting flowers and setting statues. Besides, there are steel arches to reduct the affects of weather. The points of turning water spray combined with light will help the bridge, which is a symbol of Da Nang, more attractive.
