The model of Ho Chi Minh City in developing tourism industry is an effective solution for other cities to attract tourists in the period that tourism has to face with challenges like nowadays. Mrs. Elisa Lostale, an Australian tourist, appreciated that travel companies in Vietnam, especially in Ho Chi Minh City have made interesting and intriguing tours. This was the third time she visited Ho Chi Minh City going on a Southwest tour. Each time she saw many changes in tours which always fascinated her. Therefore, she also introduced those tours to friends in Australia when coming back. Not only attractive to international tourists who are strangers to Vietnamese culture, Ho Chi Minh City also fascinates domestic tourists. A tourist from Hanoi shared that she felt truly relaxed when visiting Ho Chi Minh City thanks to attentive services of the travel company as well as of the tour guide.
A survey of tours from Ho Chi Minh City to localities in Southwest region shows that in recent years, 1 or 2-day tours visiting Southwest region have attracted a huge number of tourists, especially in summer. To make such intercity tours, tourism companies with the support of authorities have collaborated with garden houses to create favorable conditions for tourists to explore cultural features, specialties, and famous attractions such as well-known temples in My Tho, Cai Rang Floating Market freely.
Tourism markets that are focused on in the near future are Northeast Asia, Southeast Asia, Western Europe, the US, Russia, Australia, Middle East, and India. Simultaneously, Ho Chi Minh tourism will strengthen promotion in domestic market through stimulus programs. The city has provided hot line and established supporting center in attractions in Ho Chi Minh City for tourists to report problems they enters when visiting here. Thereby, the city will improve the service quality to create a friendly image for tourists. Along with the continued implementation of service improvement, the city will invest on developing waterway tourism, promote the program named “Ho Chi Minh City – 100 interesting things” and hold a series of tourism events associated with sports and culture to attract tourists.
From now to 2015, 50 berths, jetties, and roads from berth to attractions in Ho Chi Minh City will be constructed. 3 key tourist attractions in Cu Chi Tunnel, Can Gio and District 9 will be built also. In addition, the city also invites foreign Famtrip and Presstrip delegations, specifically from Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Indonesia to visit and witness its tourism development.
