High-tech Agro 2014 in HCM City kicked off

On October 22 evening, at Le Van Tam Park in Ho Chi Minh City, the High-tech Agriculture and Food Industry Fair or Hi-Tech Agro 2014 in HCMC City was launched by the Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC).

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong, vice chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, the Vietnam Hi-Tech Agro expo is held annually since 2012. The fair is to help manufacturers, as well as enterprises in Vietnam as well as provinces and cities to approach and capture advanced scientific and technical progress and achievements in the field of high-tech agriculture and food industry to improve product quality and increase the competitiveness of agricultural products in Vietnam. The combination of the agricultural sector and trade will contribute to promoting linkages in production and distribution, to the circulation of goods in the market and attract investment in the agricultural sector and food industry. Hi-tech Agro 2014 has three main programs: exhibit, connect trade and workshop, focus on targets to support promotions of hi-tech Vietnam agricultural products, good quality food; connect units of scientific and technological research with businesses, production facilities; create linkages production - goods traffic.

The fair attracted more than 340 booths of over 200 Vietnam enterprises in agriculture and food industry from Ho Chi Minh City and 29 provinces and cities across the country. Among those, there are some unique and outstanding products such as Kim Lai Caterpillar fungus of Nam Ta Limited Liability Company, bottle of orchid cellar and orchid’s seed, vegetable hi-tech production model, fish farming, hydroponic rigs, large decorative orchid pots, smart potted peppers of Center for Hi-tech Agricultural Research and Development of the city. Especially, there are some products of mushroom like Ganoderma (reishi), abalone mushrooms, straw mushrooms, melon, and hi-tech model tech application, planting nutritional vegetable gardens for the family... After the opening day, Hi-Tech Agro 2014 will continue to show excellent art nightly. The orchid contest will have over 100 species of orchids. The aquarium exhibition area displays an area of ​​over 100m2 with ornamental fish species such as pearl, phoenix fish... In particular, this year, the organizers have devoted the main route to have the fair crowded with flags, banners, and exhibition images of islands and achievements in agriculture and food industry of the city.

 

Hi-Tech products in 2014 fair


Besides promoting traditional products, regional specialties, this year's expo also introduced the advanced technology, modern machinery and equipment in the field of agriculture and food industry. The activities of connecting supply and demand, seminars about effective measures of improving supply chain of Vietnam agricultural products, applying post-harvest hi-technology to enhance the value of agricultural production and food processing are also held in the framework of the exhibition. Exhibition will end on Oct 26 with program on connecting distributors and suppliers to help manufacturing and sale units of provinces, cities and Ho Chi Minh City, link wholesale buyers, distributors as Aeon, BigC, Saigon Co-op, FairPrice, Golmart, etc., and merchants in agricultural products - food wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City,  such as Thu Duc, Hoc Mon, etc. Besides, Hi-Tech Agro 2014 will include two workshops on "Improving the efficiency of supply hi-tech agricultural products chain solutions - Experience of countries" and "Application of post-harvest to enhance the value of agricultural products and processed food”. The fair opens from 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
