Bach Ma National Park was established on 15th July 1991 with a total natural area of about 22,031 ha.  This is now one of rare places in Vietnam national parks preserving many rare animals. The fauna and flora here is extremely diverse. Among 22,031 ha natural area, Bach Ma National Park owns 16,900 ha of primitive forest. The forest is home to 1,406 species of plants including many precious woods such as Parashorea chinensis, Anisoptera scaphula, Afzelia xylocarpa... (Numerous trees remain the diameter of 80 - 100cm) and over 300 species of precious medicinal plants. The fauna in Bach Ma is up to 931 species including 83 species of mammals with the large number of rare species such as bears, leopards, tigers, saolas...; 333 species of birds, 31 species of reptiles, 21 species of amphibians, 39 species of fish, 218 species of butterflies and 178 beetle species.  In particular, Bach Ma National Park is the habitat of rare birds such as crested arguses and Edwards's pheasants. Previously, the French built a large resort located at an altitude of 1,000 - 1.444m above the sea leve at Bach Ma in 1932. The resort is home to 139 villas, markets, banks, post offices, swimming pools, tennis courts and a system of road 19km long connecting National Highway 1A to the center area of Bach Ma. Currently, the ancient villas have been restored and embellished into the resorts by Management Board of Bach Ma National Park with their names of Do Quyen, Sao La, Kim Giao... These villas have still preserved French architecture with the round stairs, wide corridors together with large windows overlooking the mountain creating airy space both ancient and modern. Discovering Bach Ma National Park will definitely leave unforgettable impressions in the journey of exploring Hue tours.
