On March 13, 2014, a ceremony of awarding Vietnam Records on the oldest silk village in Vietnam still on operation to Van Phuc Silk Village was held in Van Phuc Ward, Ha Dong District. This reward was given by Vietnam Book of Records Center.
In the program, visitors will understand clearly about the Vietnamese culture, will take a look how the artisans in a small village from suburban area of Hanoi preserve and develop the royal in embroider design.
On September 17th, “Van Phuc Silk Village Culture and Tourism Week 2014” was officially opened by Vietnam Craft Village Association. The festival aims to celebrate the 60th Anniversary of Capital’s Liberation Day.
As one of over 1,000 traditional villages existing in Vietnam, Van Phuc Silk Village is considered as one of the few villages retaining the most beautiful cultural and historical traditions of the country.
Such outstanding and sophisticated silk shirts, dresses, or scarfs as founded or seen on body of models in fashion shows or of some Hanoian must have been made in Van Phuc Silk Village, the oldest silk village still operating in Vietnam.
