Amalotus Cruise is one of Mekong River luxury cruises. Built in September 2011, Amalotus Cruise has the length of 320 feet and the width of 42 feet with the capacity of 124 passengers. Besides having 62 luxurious cabins, the ship also has various public area including Mekong restaurant serving Asian and Western specialties, Saigon Lounge, sundeck with lounge chairs and bar, swimming pool, fitness center, gift shop, library/ panoramic lounge, and full-service spa.

 

As one of luxury cruises in Mekong River, Amalotus Cruise offers passengers very spacious cabins with the total area fluctuating from 226 square feet to 624 square feet. All outside staterooms have sitting areas and most featuring balconies. LOW WATER PROGRAM: Saigon – Siem Reap 8 days 7 nights

 

Day 1: Embarkation – My Tho – Cai Be (including lunch and dinner)

You will be picked up at a hotel in Saigon and transferred overland by motor coach to My Tho port for embarkation at 1.30 pm. A welcome drink will be served in Saigon Lounge. Then, a short briefing is conducted before a gourmet lunch served in Mekong restaurant. After port clearance formalities, captain raises the anchor and Amalotus Cruise will move towards Cai Be. At 6.00 pm, a safe demonstration and briefing will be conducted, then, followed by Captain’s Cocktails. Let’s enjoy your first gourmet dinner with your fellow travelers. In the evening, around 9.00 – 9.45 pm, a folk performance of Mekong River Delta will be performed. The ship moors overnight midstream at Cai Be.

 

Day 2: Cai Be – Vinh Long (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

After having breakfast, you will take a morning junk trip around Cai Be for sightseeing floating market and going ashore to visit French Gothic Cathedral and colorful port area, which is surrounded by colonial buildings, delightful flower gardens, and local rice paper manufacturers. In midday, you will savor your lunch while Amalotus Cruise sails towards Vinh Long – the second largest city on the Mekong Delta.

In the afternoon, you will be transferred to a short boat ride to get ashore for a walking tour in Vinh Long and visit a bustling market. Normally, the cruise will arrive in Sa Dec at 11.00pm. Overnight midstream at Sa Dec.

 

Day 3: Sa Dec – Tan Chau (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

In the morning, you will follow guides to visit the hometown of Marguerite Duras’ lover – Sa Dec – an ancient and small city. In the city, you can explore the house of Huynh Thuy Le, go sightseeing local markets along paved river banks, visit pagoda and Fujian Temple. At 11.00, you will return to the ship for lunch. After that, Amalotus Cruise sets sail to Tan Chau.

In the afternoon, let’s enrich your knowledge about Vietnam – the Past and the Present – by attending in a lecture in Saigon Lounge by Vietnamese tour guides. Cocktails and briefing at 6.00 pm followed by dinner at one hour later. The cruise will arrive at Tan Chau about 6.30. After dinner, you can take part in crew show in the Saigon Lounge. Enjoy music and dancing if you prefer. Overnight in Tan Chau.

 

Day 4: Tan Chau – Border Crossing (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

In the morning, enjoying your thrilling excursion by local boats, you have chance to visit evergreen islands and floating fish farm. The boat will bring you travel along tiny tributaries where slit houses are haphazardly leaning on each other. Later on, going ashore, it is a wonderful opportunity to tour the town on rickshaw. You will visit rattan mats and slippers making factories. Afterwards, you will back to the cruise for lunch while it departs for border.

Day 5: Phnom Penh (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

This day promises to be your busy day with many exciting excursions. In details, in the morning, you will go sightseeing in Phnom Penh by bus and explore Royal Palace, Silver, Pagoda, and National Museum where spectacular Khmer crafts are exhibited.

In the afternoon, it is a good chance to broaden your knowledge about a crucial part of Cambodian history involving Khmer Rouge’s grim ToulSleng (S21 detention center) and Killing Fields. On the other hand, if you desire to have a free and easy afternoon in Phnom Penh, please inform Cruise Manager. Similar to other days on cruise, cocktail hours are served from 6.00 – 7.00 pm while dinner is at 7.30 pm. In the evening, you can participate in Khmer folk dances and songs at Saigon Lounge.

 

Day 6: Chong Koh – Oudong – Kampong Tralach (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

In the early morning, Amalotus Cruise will travel to a little-known Chong Koh village. After breakfast, you can leisurely take a stroll through this village, which is famous for silk weaving. You will visit local schools, home workshops producing traditional silk and cotton handicrafts and buy some local products as well. Back to the cruise at 10.00, you will be served a hearty lunch onboard as the ship sails to Prek K’dam.

Interesting afternoon excursion will begin with a bus ride to visit Oudong – the second capital of Cambodia. When arriving in a Buddhist Center, you can join a blessing. Later on, you will continue your journey by bus to discover Kampong TralachPleu Temple and take a 20-minute ox-cart ride back to the ship. Amalotus Cruise will move to Kampong Chhnang. After savoring dinner, you can go to Saigon Lounge with Cruise Director for a “Nasty Quiz” night. The vessel will arrive at Kampong Chhnang around 11.00 pm and moors midstream overnight.

 

Day 7: Kampong Chhnag – Prek K’dam (including breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

As the ship moors mid-stream, you can experience a motorboat excursion into the lakeside wetlands that form the mouth of the river. You may be surprised about a stunning variety of birdlife and local life at floating village. Returning to the boat, Amalotus Cruise will sail to Tone Lake, which is known as a great lake dominating Cambodia with the length of 150km. Day 8: Disembarkation – Prek K’dam (including breakfast)

After enjoying breakfast, it is time to say goodbye crew and guides of Amalotus Cruise. You will get off the ship about 8.30 am and be transferred to local jetty by motorized boats.

In this day, you will be guided to visit Wat Hanchey, a hilltop pagoda overlooking the Mekong. Wat Hanchey dates back from the 8th century with ancient brick structures, which characterize for the typical architecture of the Chenla Empire. As reaching the top of the hill, you will enjoy spectacular panoramic view over the Mekong River. In midday, you will return onboard for lunch whilst the cruise moves to Kampong Cham.

In the afternoon, you will travel by bus to explore upland regions near Kampong Cham, which have a plenty of timbers (ironwood, rosewood, bean trees, teak, and rubber trees). Then, your journey will continue in 12th century Angkor Ian temple of Wat Nokor and Eco village. Back to ship for refreshment, later, you will be served cocktail and dinner at Saigon Lounge. You have chances to improve your culinary skills by participating in towels folding demonstration with Housekeeping staff and fruit carving and Vietnamese fresh spring rolls demonstration with Executive Chef at Saigon Lounge. After border formalities are carried out, Amalotus Cruise will bring you to Tan Chau, the first Vietnamese town on Mekong River. You can enjoy folk performance of Mekong Delta songs and music in Saigon Lounge.

 

Day 6: Tan Chau – Sa Dec

Day 7: Sa Dec – Cai Be

 After having breakfast, you will visit hometown of Marguerite Duras’ lover. Here, you can explore the house of Huynh Thuy Le, go sightseeing local markets along paved river banks, visit pagoda and Fujian Temple

In the afternoon, you will take a junk trip around Cai Be for sightseeing floating market and going ashore to visit French Gothic Cathedral and colorful port area, which is surrounded by colonial buildings, delightful flower gardens, and local rice paper manufacturers. After visiting Mr. Kiet’s house and acquainting with life in Mekong delta, you will back to the vessel for attending farewell cocktail and farewell dinner.

 

Day 8: Disembarkation – My Tho – Saigon

You will disembark at My Tho Port at 8.30 am and take a bus to be back to Saigon. Trip ends.

What is difference between upstream and downstream?

Upstream and downstream indicate the direction that the ship will move. For example, if upstream is from Saigon to Siem Reap, downstream is in opposite direction, it means from Siem Reap to Saigon. Generally, all activities and programs in upstream and down stream’s itinerary is similar to each other. The only one difference is that the ship moves from the opposite direction.
