At the end of last September, European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certificated a safe aircraft category for commercial purpose of the newest Airbus' product, the A350 XWB (Extra Wide-Body). Vietnam Airlines will soon receive this aircraft.

In the middle of 2015, the aircraft will come to Vietnam. In early 10.2014, aircraft manufacturer, Airbus said that the final assembly process for the first A350-900 XWB of Vietnam Airlines officially started in the Roger Beteille final assembly line (FAL) in Toulouse, France. Currently, the aircraft only has the body, but it is clearly marked "Vietnam Airlines". After being transferred to a final assembly line, Vietnam Airlines A350 XWB will be added two large wings, two tail wings, vertical tail wing, aerodynamic and electronic system, then be painted. According to the production plan and schedule, it is expected in mid-2015, Vietnam Airlines will become the first Asian and the world's second airline operating completely new A350 wide-body and fuel-economy aircrafts. Vietnam Airlines has ordered 10 A350-900 XWB aircrafts to serve its long-range routes. Thus, Vietnam Airlines fleet will be upgraded with the most modern airplanes.

Five A350 XWB aircrafts used by Airbus during the test process have accumulated nearly 2,600 flight hours in over 600 flights. The A350 XWB will bring an effective change compared to other current A350 aircrafts. It saves up to 25% of fuel with a fall in CO2 amount. Up until now, A350 XWB has gained more than 750 orders from 39 customers around the world. Qatar Airways, the first customer of Airbus A350 XWB, will receive it by the end of this year. On last August 28, the airline already announced the A350 XWB image with new paint on the factory line in Toulouse, France. Qatar Airways has ordered 80 A350 XWB aircrafts of all types. It said it would deploy on a wide range of flight network with about 140 current approaches of it. CEO of Qatar Airways, Akbar Al Baker said the airline is conducting a programs to develop a large fleet. And the receipt of new Airbus A350 XWB will be a milestone: "We are proud of introducing new products and services of Airbus and the new aircraft is a stark example."

In June 2014, Airbus had to suffer bad news when Emirates Airlines canceled all its order of 70 A350 XWB aircrafts, after the fleet reconsidered its need. In 2007, Emirates ordered 50 A350-900 and 20 A350-1000 aircraft, with the first delivery expected from 2019. Reportedly, the deal is worth about US$16 billion according to the listed price in 2007. However, the European aircraft manufacturer is still confident in the program of manufacturing A350 XWB and hopes more orders: "The interest of customers to A350 is very high, and we expect that the A350 orders will continue to grow in 2014." According to the Daily Telegraph, the Airbus A350 XWB landed in Australia for the first time on August 5 morning, after completing the test around the world. The aircraft manufacturer having A350 XWB nicknamed "quiet aircraft" promises that A350 will feature revolutionary characteristics in air travel industry. In addition to 53% A350's super lightweight airframe produced from carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP), compared with 50% of Boeing 787, the main outstanding feature of A350 is the width of the plane.

In addition, the A350 XWB has to be tested in the hot and cold environment with the testing process on climate in over 2 weeks at McKinley Climatic Laboratory, in US Eglin Air Force Base in Florida to complete and verify its performance before delivering at the end of this year. A350 XWB is one of the largest aircrafts ever experimented here, which requires test groups to prepare from 6 months ago. Aircrafts have to undergo many climatic and moisture conditions from 45 degrees Celsius to 40 degrees Celsius. Flight test Director Philippe Foucault said that many different systems of the A350 XWB - from recreational facilities, air-conditioning, kitchen system, water and waste - will be verified in the laboratory, as well as checked the operation of the engine.
