Phu Quoc is considered as the birthplace of Caodaism. As a monotheistic religion with its fusion, Cao Dai is interallied among Buddhism, Christianity, Taoism and Confucianism. Since then, Cao Dai has been spread across the South Vietnam and developed over numerous ups and downs. During the war, Guanyin Temple was destroyed, the devotees then built Cao Dai Temple right at the position of the old foundation for worshiping the pedigrees. The campus of the temple also houses a small shrine as the anniversary of Guanyin Temple.
